Our First Christmas!!!

Christmas was so much fun!! Derek has Wednesdays and Thursdays off of work so we have had the best two days!! Last night (Christmas Eve) we went over to my dad's for dinner and to exchange presents. My grandparents, step-sister, her husband and her baby girl and step-brother, his wife and two little girls were there. So there were lots of babies and little kids running around which Derek and I love. We had a very nice turkey dinner and I made angel food cake tiramisu (sp?) and chocolate tiramisu. The girls made cookies for Santa and ran around and played. We opened presents from everyone, Derek got a game that he has been wanting and I got a bare minerals eye shadow kit (AMAZING STUFF....LOVE IT). We also got an AMC gift card (which we are using today) and gift cards to eat out and for groceries. We made out pretty dang good there! All the babies got matching pajamas and my dad read all the little girls The Night Before Christmas. It was a good time over there. When Derek and I left we didn't really know what we wanted to do and we didn't have any Christmas movies [that we hadn't watched yet] so we filled up his huge soda mug and drove around Leesburg and listened to Christmas music and looked at the lights. When we got home we watched some silly soccer Chinese movie that Derek loves and I slept through. This morning we slept in until about 10 and woke up and took pictures of our matching pajamas with our turtles and Pippin in front of our tree. We decided this would be a new tradition for us to take a picture each Christmas morning BEFORE presents that way when we have kids we can see how excited they are!! I made breakfast and Derek cleaned up. We went over to my dad's to see what Santa had brought them and went to use up our AMC gift card. We saw Yes Man and we are getting ready to go see Marley and Me. There is a park by our house which is all decorated with lights that we are going to go walk around later tonight. We had a pretty dang good first Christmas together! And many more to come!!

Derek's New Habit...

Derek has started grinding his teeth at night and when I told him he didn't believe me. But he decided "if I really do grind my teeth I should probably get a mouth guard..." Yes dear, you REALLY do. I wouldn't lie. Point is he looks like a goof with it in so we took some pictures : )He's going to be mad at me for putting these on here but I think they're hilarious...

There's No Place Like Home

I have gotten several requests to put up pictures of our humble abode but it has been a mess!! I cleaned it the other day so here you go!!

New and Improved [yay for beauty school!]

I have been changing my hair A LOT this month. You have seen my new color...although the one in the picture below is a box and I put permanent Redken color on it its very similar...and today I cut it!! My teacher works at Salon 5th Avenue (which is where I want to work when I graduate) and usually charges about 40 bucks for a hair cut and used me as a demonstration so he cut mine in class for absolutely nothing!!!! I love it and am so excited to have something different!!! So here's some pictures!!!

I HATE cockroaches

So its funny how I am sitting here talking to Ali about how I am terrible at blogging because I never take pictures so I never have anything to blog about. Ironic that there is this weird little noise coming from my kitchen...I just thought it might be out cute little turtles playing in the rocks...NO. I look over and realize there is still a pot of macaroni and cheese on the stove. WITH A HUGE FREAKING COCKROACH IN IT. I tell people I hate living here and I hate the cockroaches but I really don't think some of you realize how bad it is. So I included a picture of a mommy cockroach finishing Derek's dinner. Enjoy...cuz that's what I live with! GAH GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Florida [sucks] But we're surviving : )

So again, I suck at blogging but I have an excuse!!! We don't have internet but i'm stealing the hospital's that we live by!!! We don't especially like it here so this is definitely just a temporary move JUST for school. Derek is going to Audio Recording Technology Institute in Orlando. He loves it!!! He just started working the graveyard shift at Circle K and is always sleepy. He usually goes to school 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the day then works 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. so he hardly has time to sleep. I love him so much and he works so hard. Bless his heart. I love school!!! I am going to The Salon Professional Academy and studying cosmetology. We started highlighting with foils today!!! It is so much fun to do!!!! I interviewed at Ruby Tuesdays on Tuesday (ha) and tonight I interviewed with the general manager. So hopefully they'll like me!!! I also have and interview at Outback Steakhouse tomorrow that my sister helped me get. So hopefully I will be able to find a job and make some bangin' tips to help Derek out and take some of the stress off of him. So we're doing pretty good other than the stress. My dad is helping us out a lot. I am getting a car this weekend/next weekend that he is helping us with. Even though we don't love it here we just have to keep telling ourselves we have less than a year!!!

Living the married life is AWESOME it is sooooo much fun!!!! Although we don't see eachother as much because of out crazy schedules we have the best time together. I love Derek so much and I am so happy with him!! He treats me soo good and takes very good care of me. I feel so lucky to have him as my husband and one day eternal companion.

Derek dyed my hair for me the other night too ha ha out of a box too (gasp...forgive me redken!!). It is VERY dark but I love it and he picked out the color. We made a big mess all over our bathroom floor and my face. But it looks really good! Everyone says I look so much older with it dark. I like it a lot!!!

My grandmama threw me a bridal shower last weekend with out family and some friends. It was a lot of fun!! We ate chicken salad and yummy cake. I got lots of good stuff for the house and tons of gift cards for groceries!!

Big News!!!

ok, ok, i know i am a TERRIBLE blogger! a lot has happened since the last time i blogged...in july...i don't even know where to start!!! wellllll if you didn't know already i got married!!! on September 29th. so i am now Courtnie Furrows : ) my husband, Derek and i got married in Resxburg and now are in Colorado visiting my family. we are moving to Florida for school this week and made a pit stop on the way (yes, we're driving GAH). We are both going to be going to school. I'm going to go to The Redken Salon Professional Academy and Derek is going to the Audio Recording Technology Institute. We are very excited and can't wait to get settled in our own place!! we went on a mini-honeymoon to Yellowstone (Wyoming). i had never been there before so i didn't realize it was all stinky geysers lol but it was really cool. we saw a lot of buffalo and deer. we also saw old faithful and another one that was a lot cooler/bigger/longer than old faithful. Derek said it is less popular though because it is a rare one and we just happened to be in the right place at the right time. it even got us wet!
Derek and i also went to Florida for a few weeks (where we got engaged). we stayed with my dad and step-mom. we went to the beach and stayed in the condo one weekend and the next weekend we went to universal studios-island of adventures where Derek lost his phone (so we got a new plan and now i dont have texting :( )
